The best way to prepare for what is ahead, is to make sure you understand what may be coming. As a family caregiver there are many unknowns, but in cases of chronic or progressive diseases, you do know that things are likely to change in the future. These changes will most likely include more intense care and more stress. By educating yourself about the particular disease or illness of the person you are caring for as well as arming yourself with the skills it will take to be a good caregiver - you are setting both you and the person you care for up for success.
There are a few classes I recommend in addition to using the Toghers website and disease specific websites to get information about your role. I have listed below two classes that I am familiar with.
